Fee for Service Hospitals

Fee-For-Service (FFS) acute psychiatric inpatient hospitals are facilities that have contracts with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH).  They can operate as an Acute Psychiatric Hospital (APH) or as a General Acute Care Hospital (GACH)  a site that maintains a distinct acute psychiatric unit in the facility. These facilities must be secure and meet all CCR Titles 9 and 22 staffing standards for inpatient services. They must provide a twenty-four (24) hour inpatient treatment program, with the intent to ameliorate the symptoms of danger to self, other or the inability to provide for food, clothing and shelter due to a mental disability as determined by qualified mental health professional staff. The hospital must  be eligible as determined by LACDMH as a Lanterman-Petris Short (LPS) to detain and treat clients under Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) Section 5150
