Rimmi Hundal is the Chief Deputy Director for LACDMH, where she oversees the implementation and ongoing operation of all administrative programs and processes for the department.
Ms. Hundal is a fiercely dedicated mental health, equity, and social justice advocate, and comes to the Department with tremendous experience in the public mental health space. Prior to joining LACDMH, she has served as the Executive Director of Tri-City Mental Health Authority, serving the cities of Pomona, La Verne, and Claremont. Ms. Hundal was responsible for policy development, program planning, fiscal management, administration and operation of the Authority’s programs, services, and activities.
Before the Executive Director position, she was the Director of Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) and Ethnic Services for 14 years at Tri-City, wherein she implemented the system of care through the MHSA, working with different cultural populations, specifically communities that are underserved and unserved. Her experience includes working with underachieving youth, integrated behavioral health care, addressing mental health disparities and training others in cultural humility. Ms. Hundal represented the southern region on the California Behavioral Health Directors’ Association Executive Committee on Social Justice and Equity.
Ms. Hundal earned a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
