Service Area 3 holds several meetings regularly throughout the year to inform and engage our community at large about our mental health programs, policies, priorities and events for the region.

We welcome you to learn more and participate in the meetings below:

Service Area Leadership Team (SALT) Meeting

Vision   

A community driven process that engages a large, multicultural and diverse San Gabriel Valley population towards a shared goal of hope, recovery, and wellbeing.

Mission   

To produce stakeholder priorities which will advise the Department of Mental Health’s Action Plan toward the development and improvement of its services and partnerships.

Values     

  • Collaboration: Service Area 3 Leadership-San Gabriel Valley stakeholders will work together towards common goals by partnering with the community, including culturally isolated groups and marginalized community members, through sharing knowledge and building consensus.
  • Dedication: Service Area 3 Leadership-San Gabriel Valley will work towards improving the lives of our clients and diverse communities erasing the stigma of mental illness.
  • Respect: Service Area 3 Leadership-San Gabriel Valley recognizes the uniqueness of every individual, including cultural differences, and treat all people in a way that affirms their person worth, with dignity and professionalism.

Priorities     

  1. Support opportunities to implement the latest advancements in research and technology to improve service delivery (Face Time, UNIPER, VRI, Skype , etc.)
  2. Expand the number of bilingual API clinicians who speak Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese languages.
  3. Organize an event for May is Mental Health Awareness Month 2018 which addresses stigma and suicide prevention.

Clergy Roundtable Meeting

The interfaith Clergy and Mental Health Roundtable Meeting brings together clergy and mental health staff to:

  • explore the relationship between mental health and spirituality
  • enhance the capacity of both of our communities to help individuals and families struggling with mental illness as well as
  • support their recovery

Clergy have the opportunity to:

  • further develop their pastoral skills and receive consultation and
  • receive support and resources for congregants and families who come to them for help

DMH staff also have the opportunity to understand more about how spirituality and the faith based community can assist them in their work with clients and their families.

Meeting schedule: second Wednesday of every month, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

East SGV Health Neighborhood Meeting

The Health Neighborhood collaborative meeting’s purpose is to increase capacity and access of care for those in the San Gabriel Valley.

The East San Gabriel Valley Health Neighborhood brings together health, mental health and substance use disorder providers and the community at large to establish and enhance collaborative relationships.

Providers come together with vital input from the community to enhance the health and well-being of neighborhood residents.

Meeting schedule: Second Tuesday of every month, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

El Monte Health Neighborhood Meeting

The Health Neighborhood brings together health, mental health and substance use disorder providers to establish and enhance collaborative relationships and promote the integration of whole-person care.

Participating service providers are linked to an extensive network of governmental and community supports including, but not limited to:

  • County and city agencies
  • educational institutions
  • housing services
  • faith-based groups
  • vocational supports
  • advocacy and non-profit organizations
  • prevention programs
  • social services etc.

These providers come together with vital input from the community to enhance the health and wellbeing of neighborhood residents.

Meeting Schedule:  Second Tuesday of every month, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Faith-Based Breakfast Meeting

The Faith-Based Breakfast Meeting brings together a diverse group of people from a variety of belief systems and across disciplines by discussion of issues of common concerns, including culturally relevant spiritual and religious support and sharing of resources.

Meeting schedule:  Quarterly, 9 a.m. to noon

SGV Maternal Mental Health Meeting

Purpose:
To help improve the wellness of moms/persons giving birth and babies and remove barriers to:

  • Prevention
  • Screening
  • Treatment

Goals: 

Create a network of providers who work with pregnant women/persons and young families – to provide resources to healthcare, childcare, employment agencies, hospitals etc. through:

  • Streamlining referral systems within the San Gabriel Valley
  • Education to providers and the community
  • Outreach
  • Support Groups
  • Creating a network of providers for referrals & linkage
  • High Quality Treatment

Meeting Schedules:  First Tuesday of every month, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
