Adults

Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health provides an array of mental health and supportive services for clients, between the ages of 26 and 59, who live with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Mental health services are available through directly operated and contract agencies throughout the County.

Services typically provided in these agencies are: assessment, therapy, medication, case management/brokerage, crisis intervention, and other supportive services related to housing, prevocational and employment. These services are intended to reduce psychiatric symptoms, increase independent functioning and self-reliance so that individuals can achieve the fullest and most productive life possible. The Recovery Model is the framework for all adult services and is based on the belief that adults diagnosed with a mental illness can lead productive lives by seeking and maintaining meaningful relationships through employment, education, or volunteer work, and participating fully in their community.

As a result of Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), additional services became available to create a full continuum of care for clients with a different level of mental health needs and recovery goals. Current Adult MHSA programs range from the most intensive services, which include Full Service Partnerships (FSP) and Field Capable Clinical Services (FCCS), to Wellness Centers and Client Run Services that are designed to support clients who are in later stages of recovery.

If you need immediate assistance or need to find services in your area please contact Access Center 24/7 Helpline at 1-800-854-7771.
